3 die of sunstroke; toll mounts to 123

Bhubaneswar, May 10 (PTI) With three more deaths, toll in suspected sunstroke in Orissa today mounted to 123 as heatwave conditions returned after a brief spell of rain and thunder shower. The deaths were reported from Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Khurda, Revenue Department officials said. The local weather office warned of heatwave conditions persisting over some parts of north Orissa in the next 48 hours. At least 10 districts recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. The highest was recorded at Jharsuguda (45.5), followed by Hirakud (45.4), Titlagarh (45.2), Talcher (45.1) and Sambalpur (45). The state capital touched 40.2 degree Celsius against 39.6 degrees Celsius yesterday. The maximum relative humidity was at 88 per cent, they said.
