The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2010 replaces the ordinance of the same name. It seeks to amend the existing Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act. This provides that without the required permissions, no construction work can be carried out within 100 metres of a protected area of monument. The Bill establishes a watchdog body รข€“ the National Monuments Authority to monitor this.
