Chhattisgarh Govt. to observe alertness for any probable Maoist attack

Raipur, May 10 (ANI): Following Saturday's landmine blast incident in Bijapur area, the Chhattisgarh Government believes that there is need to be alert and geared up to handle any probable Maoist attack.While reacting to the latest incident in which seven personnel of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed, Chhattisgarh's Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar, said: "They (Maoists) can't attack us openly. They make plans in hiding. We need to be on alert."Seven personnel of the CRPF were killed when suspected Maoists triggered a landmine and blew up their convoy in Bijapur district of the state on Saturday.Apart from the fatalities, one CRPF constable and two civilians on a motorcycle who were in the vicinity of the blast were also injured in the explosion.According to Vishwa Ranjan, Director General of Chhattisgarh Police, the gadgets gadget can sense or trace out landmines buried just upto around three feet."There is no instrument in the world which can penetrate deep to dig out landmines. It (instrument) can dig out landmines buried up to two and two-and-a-half deep, not up to seven feet," said Vishwa Ranjan, Director General of Police, Chhattisgarh.Prior to the latest attack in Bijapur region, the Maoists had ambushed at least 76 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Dantewada district of the state on April 6.
