Gill inaugurates shooting range at CRPF campus in Gurgaon

Gurgaon, May 10 (ANI): Union Sports Minister M. S. Gill on Monday inaugurated a full-bore shooting range at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) campus here for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.The Full Bore Shooting Range has been constructed at a cost of 280 million rupees as a new venue for holding the prestigious Queen Matches during Commonwealth Games 2010.Addressing the security personnel, Gill said that the shooting range will be helpful for their training once the C'Wealth Games are over."This shooting range has been made initially for the games. 300 meters range is for both Asian and Olympic Games but I feel if such a shooting range is present in your campus then it would be useful for your training also," added M.S Gill."I am happy that such a modern shooting range has been made in your (CRPF) campus. We are competing for the big bore rifle in the Commonwealth Games and we have arranged this shooting range for the games," said M. S. Gill said at the inaugural function.The range is located at the foothill of Aravali Hill Range, within the safe campus of CRPF.The shooting range has the natural barrier of the Aravali Hills on one side and has been designed as 'No Danger Area' range, with well-designed side Baffle walls and End Butt Wall.Movable type electronic targets system will be used for the first time for full-bore shooting competition for 300 yards, 500 yards, 600 yards, 900 yards and 1000 yards events during Commonwealth Games 2010 in New Delhi in October 2010.Among others present on this occasion included senior officials of the CRPF, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and the Ministry of Urban Development.
