New Delhi, May 28 (PTI) Jeera prices fell by Rs 109, or 0.88 per cent to Rs 12,289 per quintal in futures trade today, after speculators reduced their positions, driven by poor spot demand amid concerns over higher output estimates. Sluggish exports enquiries too weighed on jeera futures prices. At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange counter, jeera for delivery in June contract traded Rs 109, or 0.88 per cent, down at Rs 12,289 per quintal with an open interest of 11,871 lots. The spice for delivery in July contract also moved down by Rs 104, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 12,600 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,339 lots. Analysts said apart from sluggish spot demand and poor exports, higher output estimates also put pressure on the jeera futures prices.
