Mumbai, May 5 -- The state government on Tuesday sought death sentence for 26/11 attacker Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab (22), a day after the special court found the Pakistani terrorist guilty of killing 72 people. Special judge M.L. Tahilyani said he would pronounce the quantum of punishment on Thursday. The prosecution said India would remain a soft target for terror groups if the maximum punishment possible is not given for murder and for waging war against the country. Kasab's lawyer K.P. Pawar urged the court to keep Kasab's age in mind, be lenient and sentence him to life imprisonment. Special Public Prose-cutor Ujjwal Nikam said: "Kasab is a killing machine and such machines are manufactured in Pakistan."Nikam said he was not asking for death penalty out of a sense of revenge. "Tit-for-tat cannot be an outlook of the law. But the society wants justice."
