New Delhi, May 5 -- Next time you visit a government office in central Delhi you won't have to struggle to find parking slot. From Wednesday, the DTC is starting a special 'park and ride' bus to facilitate people. The ride will be completely free on these buses. The 'park and ride' buses will originate from India Gate C-Hexagon and terminate at the same point and will connect various office buildings on north and south of Rajpath. "There is ample parking space at the India Gate lawns where people can park their vehicles and avail this service," DTC chairman-and-managing director Naresh Kumar said. Senior DTC officials say, two routes have been identified on which four buses will run almost non-stop in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions. Both the routes are about 7 km long. "Each trip would take about 20-25 minutes," Kumar said. Apart from various government office buildings like North and South Blocks, central secretariat, Vigyan Bhawan, Nirman Bhawan, Shastri Bhawan et al, these buses would also connect two metro stations: Patel Chowk and Central Secretariat on their journey. "We are trying to give as many options as possible to the public to leave their cars and use public transport. The ball is now in public's court how they make use this facility," Delhi transport minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said.
