Hisar, May 8 (PTI) LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan today visited Mirchpur village of Haryana where an elderly Dalit and his physically challenged daughter were burnt alive last month and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. Strongly condemning the incident, the LJP supremo said his party would hold demonstration in front of Parliament on May 20 to protest the gruesome incident where 18 houses of Dalits were set afire by members of a particular community. Expressing concern over "growing incidents of atrocities" against Dalits and Scheduled Castes, particularly in Haryana, he told reporters there was a need to check the crime. Tara Chand (70) and his 17-year-old physically challenged daughter Suman were burnt alive and 18 Dalit households were set afire in the village on April 21. "It''s a shame for Haryana where an incident like Mirchpur has taken place," he said and demanded that affected families be rehabilitated. He sought transfer of cases relating to alleged atrocities against Dalits outside Haryana so that they can get speedy justice. Paswan also called for separate courts to deal with cases relating to Dalits.
