Select copra prices decline on ample supply

Mumbai, May 28 (PTI) Select copra prices declined at the spices market here today on ample supply from producing regions coupled with poor stockists offtake. Meanwhile, copra edible Mumbai recovered slightly on good demand. Copra Rajapur Mumbai dropped Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 5,300 from yesterday''s closing level of 5,400 and Copra office Alapuzha also quoted lower by another Rs 25 per quintal each to Rs 3,600 and Rs 3,625. However, Copra edible Mumbai moved up Rs 25 to close at Rs 4,325 from Rs 4,300 previously. Other spices ruled steady. Following are today''s closing rates in rupees with previous rates in brackets: Black Pepper (per kilo) 171/191 (171/191), ginger bleached (per kilo) 190 (190), ginger unbleached (per kilo) 210 (210), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 3,600 (3,625), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 3,425 (3,425), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 5,300 (5,400) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 4,325 (4,300).
