REUTERS - The world's top handset maker Nokia broadened its patent battle against Apple on Friday to include the iPad, deepening the legal spat between the two smartphone rivals.Following is a timeline of the legal battle between the two groups:2007June 29 - Apple starts sales of iPhone. Later that year licensing talks begin between the two companies.2008Spring - Nokia asks to pick Apple patents it wants to use as part of the settlement. Apple denies request.2009May - Nokia demands royalties roughly three times higher than in 2008, and to pick some Apple patents.Sept - Nokia demands have dropped to level of late 2007.
