Lucknow, May 10 (PTI) A notorious criminal carrying a cash reward of Rs 50,000 on his head was shot dead in an encounter with the Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh police near Varanasi. Monu Singh alias Pramod was killed last night in the encounter on Kachua Babatpur road near Varanasi, police said. Singh was wanted in connection with as many as eight cases including the murder of two constables in March this year to free his associate in a train, they said, adding a 9mm pistol and six cartridges were recovered from him.
