Pepper, turmeric rise on fresh buying

New Delhi, June 16 (PTI) Black pepper and turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists as well as exporters. Tight stocks position due to fall in supplies from the producing belts also influenced the prices. Black pepper prices rose Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 16,800- 16,900 per quintal. Turmeric prices also traded higher at Rs 16,500-19,100 against previous closing of Rs 16,400-19,000 per quintal. Traders said increased buying by stockists and rising exports demand, influenced the pepper and turmeric prices at the wholesale kirana market here. Following are today''s quotations (per quintal): Ajwain 12,500-15,500, black pepper common 16,800-16,900, betelnut (kg) 85-105, cardamom brown -Jhundiwali (kg) 780-800 and cardamom brown -Kanchicut (kg) 890-990. Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1200-1,370, cardamom (colour robin) 1,560-1,580, cardamom bold 1,585-1,600, cardamom extra (bold) 1,700-1,720 and cloves (kg) 310-390. MORE PTI DP RS.
