Valdivia and Fernandez both start for Chile

News posted by www.newsinfoline.com

Chile coach Marcelo Bielsa sprung a major surprise in his team selection for their World Cup Group H opener against Honduras by fielding both his creative playmakers -- Matias Fernandez and Jorge Valdivia. With his leading striker Humberto Suazo still not match fit after injury, Bielsa was expected to play Esteban Paredes up front but instead opted to leave both strikers on the bench.Valdivia and Fernandez usually play the same role, just behind the strikers. They have only featured together five times in the Bielsa era and Chile have lost all five matches.Honduras coach Reinaldo Rueda left his injured striker David Suazo on the bench and put Roger Espinoza up front with Carlos Pavon. Ramon Nunez starts in midfield as replacement for Julio Cesar de Leon, who was injured in training on Monday.(Writing by Gideon Long; Editing by Ken Ferris)
