All India Forward Bloc for broader Left unity

News posted by www.newsinfoline.com

Bangalore, May 8 (PTI) All India Forward Bloc would hold a meeting in New Delhi on May 15 to press for broader unity among Left parties as this alone could put pressure on UPA Government to withdraw its "anti-people" policies, a senior party leader said today. The meeting would also chalk out future course of action and if necessary, plan a national movement against price rise and "anti-farmer" policies of the UPA Government, AIFB General Secretary Debabrata Biswas told reporters here. "Broader Left unity is the need of the hour if we have to succeed in making the government roll back its anti-people policies. We have seen when we go with other parties, they vacillate," he said while hinting at RJD and Samajwadi Party which did not participate in the cut motion in Lok Sabha. The party would undertake a week-long programme from June 22 throughout the country to press for declaring January 23, the birthday of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, as the ''Day of the Patriot'', the senior leader added.
