Chandigarh, June 18 (PTI) Truck maker Asia Motor Works (AMW) today announced that it would invest Rs 700-800 crore for expanding its capacity, widening its product portfolio and increasing its dealer network over the next three years. We will be investing Rs 700 to 800 crore in the next two to three years, which will essentially be spent on ramping up our capacities and product development in order to expand our range of trucks for our customers, company president A Ramasubramanian told reporters here today. The company has made investments to the tune of Rs 1,100 crore ever since it forayed into the Indian truck market in 2006. The company has proposed to raise its truck-manufacturing capacity from 700-800 units to 4,000 units a month post- expansion for catering to the growing truck market. In sync with its plans to widen its product range, AMW has also decided to launch highway trucks in several categories during this fiscal. AMW currently makes off-road trucks, which are used for infrastructure or mining projects. Its range include tippers and transit mixers.
