Anand, Topalov take title into final game

The FIDE World Championship headed towards an exciting finish after Veselin Topalov and Viswanathan Anand drew the second last of the 12-game match. With the two players on 5.5 points each, the winner of the last classical game on Tuesday will take the world title. In case of another draw, the two will face off in a tie-break of four rapid games, which will be played on Thursday. On Sunday, in his last game with white, Anand started with the English opening, allowing Topalov to line the favourite reversed Sicilian set-up. In the middle game, Anand enjoyed the possibility of playing with pair of bishops, but Topalov's position was very compact without any apparent weaknesses to target.Anand blocked the opponent's queenside and forced several exchanges, but the game was level when the first time control was reached. But the apparently clear endgame turned complicated all of a sudden as Topalov grabbed some initiative and won the b5-pawn. Anand, however, started to coordinate the play on the kingside and the game ended in a draw on the 65th move.
