Another hot day for Delhiites

New Delhi, May 16 (PTI) It was another hot day for Delhiites today as the mercury climbed near the 44 degree celsius mark. The maximum touched 43.9 degrees during the day while the night temperature came down below 26 degrees. The minimum was recorded at 25.6 degree celsius. "The day time temperature was a little higher today as compared to yesterday which recorded a maximum of 43.3 degree celsius," a MET Department official said. The humidity levels also rose to 55 per cent though the minimum was 10 per cent. The Weatherman has predicted no relief for the capital with temperature likely to oscillate between 29 and 44 degree celsius. There could also be the possibility of dust storm during the day tomorrow. The city had recorded a high of 44.4 degrees, the season''s highest last week. The last time the temperature surpassed the 44-degree mark in the month of May was in 2006. In that year, the seventh day of May recorded a high of 44.5 degrees. "Today was very hot. The heat spoilt my plans," said Muzaffar, who was planning to take his family for an outing. The maximum temperature in the month of May was 43 degrees in 2009 (May 19), 43 degrees in 2008 (May 5) and 42.7 degrees in 2007 (May 16). The all-time record for the month was on May 29, 1944 when the mercury touched 47.2 degrees. PTI SJY.
