Army busted two militant hideouts in JK, seizes arms

Jammu, May 5 (PTI) Army and police today busted two hideouts in Poonch and Reasi districts of Jammu and Kashmir and recovered arms, ammunition and explosive material, a police spokesman said here. Acting on specific information about the presence of terrorists in Charangri forest area in Poonch district, troops of 5 Maratha Light Infantry and police launched a joint search and cordon operation today, he said. During search operation, troops busted a natural cave hideout and recovered one Ak-56 rifle with its six magazines and 43 rounds, four pistols with five magazines, three grenades and one 7 mm bolt action rifle, he said. However, no arrests were made. In another operation, troops of 59 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 126 CRPF battalion and Village Defence Committee (VDC) launched a joint search operation in Sham Nikhan forest in Reasi district today, he said. During the operation, troops smashed a hideout and recovered 200 AK rounds, one AK magazine, one Chinese grenade, one shell grenade, one radio set, one wireless set (short range), one IED circuit, one improvised radio set, ten cells and one bag, they said.
