Arrested teen had sold five girls in two years

Mumbai, May 5 -- The 19-year-old girl who was arrested last week by Kurla railway police for allegedly attempting to sell a minor girl into flesh trade, has reportedly confessed that she had already sold five girls in the past two years. "We are trying to trace those girls," said senior police inspector D. Ghore of Kurla police station. The accused Momina Salim Sheikh Mansuri, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was arrested last Wednesday when she along with the 13-year-old girl alighted from train at Kurla terminus. The girl's parents had alleged that Mansuri had lured her with easy and lavish lifestyle in Mumbai. But her real intention was sell her in the flesh trade, the parents further alleged. The accused after being arrested was handed over to the UP police for further investigation. The accused confessed that a man from Vapi had given her Rs 5,000 to sell the girl to him. Head Constable A. Gawde, an investigating team member, said: "The accused confessed that she had already brought five girls to the city in the past two years and later forced them into the flesh trade." The accused reportedly told her interrogators that she had sold these five girls in the Vapi, Vashi and Mumbai Central areas. She was given Rs 5,000 for each of the girls.The police officials revealed that Mansuri herself was forced into the profession in a similar manner by a women. She (accused) worked at a dance bar at Vapi in Gujarat.
