New York, June 15 -- Child protesters sought to hand over summons from a Bhopal court at the offices of the legal firm representing Union Carbide Corporation and its former chairman Warren Anderson here, but were prevented from doing so. The children, representing Brooklyn-based Kids for a Better Future, were stopped by a virtual wall of building security and police personnel. Not deterred, one of the children, 12-year-old Akash Mehta, son of Indian-American author Suketu Mehta, read out the summons marked to William Krohley, a partner at Kelley Drye and Warren. Making it clear that he didn't expect Anderson to stand trial in India but was still appealing to his conscience, Mehta said: "Mr Warren Anderson, today you are known only for your role in the disaster, your name is met only with hatred by hundreds of thousands of Bhopalis, and people all over the world. The only way you can change that is to make a moral statement for justice.".
