Bhopal gas tragedy GoM to submit recommendations to PM on Monday

New Delhi, June 18 (ANI): The Group of Ministers (GoM) looking into the Bhopal Gas tragedy is expected to submit its recommendations to the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Monday.The GoM headed by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram met here on Friday for about two hours to discuss the matter and is expected to hold a couple of more meetings on Saturday and Sunday before submitting its recommendations to Dr. Singh.Briefing the media, Chidambaram said the GoM is proceeding in the right direction.He said it is addressing concerns on priority basis."We have identified the areas that require indepth consideration; we are looking at them separately, and then will take a comprehensive view," Chidambaram said."The mandate is to look at relief, rehabilitation, remediation and all options that are available to the government after the trial court's verdict on June 7," he added.Apart from Chidambaram, the panel consists Union Health and Family welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Law and Justice Minister M Veerappa Moily, Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy, Union Surface Transport Minster Kamal Nath, Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Kumari Selja, Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister M K Alagiri, Minister of State for Science and Technology Prithviraj Chavan and Union Minister of state for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh.Madhya Pradesh Minister in-charge of rehabilitation Babulal Gaur is a permanent invitee.
