Chennai, Jun 18 (PTI) Alleging political pressure on police investigating the recent railway track blast in Tamil Nadu, the BJP state unit today demanded an independent probe to bring the culprits to book. "The versions of the Railway and state police on the incident are different. I learn that the police is under political pressure and therefore not able to function freely. This may have resulted in no arrests being made even after six days of the incident," BJP state chief Pon Radhakrishnan said. The June 12 incident was not an ordinary one and only alert railway officials averted a major tragedy, he said in a release here. Passengers of the Tiruchirapalli-Chennai Rockfort Express had a narrow escape when suspected pro-LTTE elements blasted railway tracks near Perani station.
