BJP demands revamping intelligence network in Arunachal

Itanagar, May 28 (PTI) In the wake of a Chinese national, being arrested for travelling without valid documents in Lohit district, the opposition BJP in Arunachal Pradesh today demanded revamping of intelligence network in the border state. The entry of a Chinese national Guan Liang without valid documents is a matter of serious concern and could be a result of intelligence lapse, the party said in a statement. Liang should be thoroughly interrogated and the state and central intelligence network revamped at the ground level, the statement said. Liang was sent to judicial remand for seven days by a court in Lohit district on May 26. The 28 year-old Liang, who speaks fluent English with a smattering of Hindi and French was arrested under Section 14 of the Foreigner''s Act on May 18 at Digaru after locals, suspecting him to be a spy, alerted the police as he was heading for Sadiya in Assam.
