New Delhi, Jun 17 (PTI) Under attack from BJP for the handling of Bhopal gas tragedy case, Congress today hit back by accusing that party of "facilitating the activities of Dow Chemicals" in Narendra-Modi ruled Gujarat. "If any fingers are to be pointed, they should be pointed at BJP which took donation from Dow Chemicals. It''s their government in Gujarat in which they have had colloborations with Dow Chemicals. They are faciliating the initiatives of Dow Chemicals in their states," Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari told reporters here. To a question about reports of a US diplomat saying that the Ministry of External Affairs was involved in ensuring safe passage to Union Carbide India chief Warren Anderson in 1984, he said "since there is a GoM and it has been given the mandate, it will be appropriate to wait for its outcome than indulging in speculation." To a volley of questions that the GoM comprised of ministers who are said to be sympathetic to Dow Chemicals and even the Left have pointed it out, Tewari said "all the people, who are in GoM, are public figures, who are in politics for the last 25-30 years and it would be inappropriate to impute motive to anyone". "The Prime Minister has the prerogative to constitute a GoM. He has done it in his wisdom.in a constructive manner, we should wait for the outcome", said Tewari to a pointed question of the Left crticism of GoM''s members. Asked about an internal report prepared by the legal cell which said Anderson would have been lynched had be been allowed to stay in Bhopal, Tewari said "the GoM will look into all related issues".
