New Delhi, June 16 (IANS) The Congress Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of making false charges against the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in resolutions adopted at its national executive meeting at Patna, saying 'its averments were a bundle of lies'.Congress spokesman Manish Tewari, referring to points made in the BJP resolutions, said here that it was wrong to say the central government was pauperizing the states.'In 2003-04, which was the last year of NDA (National Democratic Alliance) rule, the central tax devolved to states was Rs.65,784 crore. In 2009-10, under the UPA, it was 1,86,000 crores,' Tewari said.He said that there was no discrimination with the BJP-ruled Karnataka in sanctioning money for city policing scheme in Bangalore. He said while Chennai had been provided Rs.15 crore, Hyderabad Rs.9.79 crore, Bangalore was provided Rs.12.14 crore.'It does not behove a political party of the country to lie,' Tewari said.He added that the BJP should seek the views of its alliance partner Shiromani Akali Dal before making allegations that the central government had stopped excise concessions to Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The Akali Dal has opposed extension of excise concessions to the two hill states.
