New Delhi, May 4 (PTI) French retail giant Carrefour is reportedly close to entering into a deal with Kishore Biyani- promoted Future Group for starting operations in India, according to company sources. Carrefour, which has been scouting for a joint venture partner in India for the last 2-3 years, is likely to enter into a formal agreement with Future Group within the next one month, sources said. When contacted, a spokesperson of the French retail giant refused to comment on the matter and said that whenever any decision is taken, the company will make a formal announcement. Future Group could not be reached for any reaction. The France-based retail company had originally planned to start its India operations in 2009, but had delayed the move for a year because of the global economic recession. It planned to start a retail operation under a franchisee agreement with some Indian player, besides starting a wholesale business as a wholly-owned subsidiary in India. PTI PPB TR ARV.
