CBI registers case against air hostess in DA case

New Delhi, May 10 (PTI) CBI has registered a case against an air hostess of the national carrier in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets to the tune of over Rs 3.5 crore. Anu Puri, an officer of Deputy Manager level, came under the notice of the CBI, during the agency''s probe into the corruption case booked against O Ravi, former Joint Secretary in the Union Home Ministry, CBI sources said here today. Ravi was arrested by CBI late last month for allegedly indulging in a excise duty evasion scam to the tune of Rs 340 crore. The sources, however, refused to elaborate further on the link between Ravi and Puri. "It is alleged that the air hostess has acquired disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 3.62 crore (approximately) during the period 1982 to February 28, 2010. She had acquired the immovable assets like two properties at Green Park, New Delhi, two properties at Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi, one property at Anand Niketan, New Delhi and a flat in Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi (in the name of her Late father). "According to the information, the total value of immovable and movable assets in her name is estimated to be over Rs 4.11 crore. After considering the income earned by her from known sources and total expenses incurred during the check period, the total income disproportionate to her income is estimated to be over Rs 3.62 crore," CBI spokesperson said in a statement. He said during searches of her various premises and those of her associates, cash Rs 7.25 lakh was recovered besides other documents.
