CID application in Halappa case adjourned till May 17

Shimoga, May 15 (PTI) A local court today adjourned till May 17 hearing of an application by CID which is probing the case involving former Karnataka minister H Halappa, arrested on a rape charge. The CID had filed an application before Judicial Magistrate First Class II court, seeking permission to conduct a DNA test and a voice test on the minister. Halappa is facing allegations of raping his friend''s wife in November. Chandravathi, the victim, had alleged him of rape and later threatening her and her family. The former minister, who was arrested on May nine, has denied the allegations, claiming it was a political conspiracy. Meanwhile, District Sessions court granted conditional anticipatory bail to Halappa''s two aides. Girish and Basavaraj were named in the FIR lodged by Chandravathi, accusing them of threatening her and her family for speaking about the incident. Judge B M Gowder ordered conditional bail with Rs one lakh rupee personal bond and directed the two to report to the Vinobanagar police station every week without fail.
