City techie`s website wins a govt award

A website on poet-saint Tukaram has won the third prize at the recent competition held by the Government of Maharashtra to select the best websites promoting Marathi language and culture. The competition was part of the state's 50th Foundation Day celebrations and over 105 websites had participated.The competition was divided into government and non-government sections and www.tukaram.com run by city techie Dilip Dhonde, was placed third, along with champralekhan.com, in the non-government sites."I am happy the government awarded the website named after saint Tukaram...," said Dhonde.The website, established on February 17, 2002, has information on saint Tukaram's works, in about 22 languages including French, Tamil, Kannada and English. "We plan to launch his abhangas in Sindhi, Telugu and Tamil," added Dhonde.In the government section, yashada.org was declared winner. Arogyavidya.org and balijagat.com were announced joint winners in the non-government section followed by mr.upakram and sahajach.com. Third place went to tukaram.com and champralekhan.com.
