Court examines evidence against Badals in DA case

Mohali, May 15 (PTI) A special court here today examined evidence in a disproportionate assets case against Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, his family and others and posted the matter for next hearing to May 25. Special Judge Rajinder Aggarwal said when the matter is next taken up on May 25 examination of evidence will continue in his court which will consider if any incriminating evidence was available against the accused to procure their statements under Section 313 of the CrPC or not. The entire evidence in the case was concluded on April 21 with the examination of remaining three court witnesses, bringing the trial in the almost seven-year-old case closer to disposal. The case was regsitered against Parkash Singh Badal, his son and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal and wife Surinder Badal in June, 2003 by the state Vigilance Bureau.
