New Delhi, June 16 (PTI) The Planning Commission today approved Rs 11,400 crore annual plan outlay for Delhi for the financial year 2010-11, giving Rs 200 crore more than the amount sought by the city government. The annual plan outlay, an increase of Rs 1,400 crore over previous year, was approved in a meeting here between Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. "We were given Rs 11,400 crore. If we need more, then we will demand more later," Dikshit said after the meeting. Ahluwalia said Delhi Governmemt had submitted an annual outlay of Rs 11,200 crore which was increased by Rs 200 crore at the suggestion of the Commission. Last year, the total plan outlay approved by the Commission was Rs 10,000 crore. Asked whether she had demanded any special allocation for the Commonwealth Games, Dikshit said government had sought Rs 1,000 crore additional allocation for the sporting event to which the Commission said the demand will be considered. "Whether we have sufficient funds or not but the Games will be successful," she said adding, "we are satisfied with the plan outlay." On Delhi''s demand for more funds for the sporting event to be held in October, Ahluwalia only said "the Commonwealth Games is fully funded." He said the meeting mainly focussed on making preparation for setting targets for the city in areas of water and sewerage for the 12th Five Year Plan which will start in two years'' time. "The way things are going in Delhi is very good. But we are focussing on doing even better. We will have to focus more on road transport, water and sewerage in the city in the 12th Plan," Ahluwalia said. The Planning Commission Deputy Chairman said with increase in population, Delhi will face the challenge of making available water to citizens and the city government will have to prepare a long-term plan to find a solution to the challenge. Ahluwalia suggested that the government should take steps to stop leakages in the water distribution system in Delhi. Delhi Finance Minister A K Walia said allocation for the social sector schemes has been increased by Rs 200 crore in the plan outlay.
