New Delhi, May 10 (ANI): India's renowned Oncologist, Anuradha Hooda, on Sunday said that the first vaccine to treat prostrate cancer, called Provenge, is a major scientific breakthrough that has set base to search for new ways to fight the disease. The government of United States approved this vaccine, which has been developed by a US-based Dendreaon Corporation, the first company to show, a cancer vaccine can extend patient survival. Provenge, the world's first cancer vaccine that treats prostate cancer after it has been diagnosed, helps the patient live longer. Unlike traditional vaccines that prevent a disease, Provenge treats prostate cancer by stimulating the body's own immune system to attack malignant cells.
