Girl on the Go

News posted by www.newsinfoline.com

It is not everyday that an actor gets a break with Ram Gopal Varma, followed by a project with Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Model and actor Sakshi Gulati did. "I bagged the lead in Ram Gopal Verma and PVR Production's Contract and then did cameos in Vipul Shah's London Dreams with Salman Khan and in Anant Kumar's Delhi Heights," says 27-year-old Gulati, finalist of Pantaloons Miss India pageant 2007, who has walked the ramp for fashion gurus like Manish Malhotra, Rohit Bal, Neeta Lulla, Satya Paul, Manav Gangwani, Ritu Kumar and others. A graduate in economics from Delhi University, she was also crowned Miss Delhi in 2006 and DLF May Queen 2006.This summer, Gulati will be seen in an action thriller called Happy Journey. "The film is made on a light vein and stars Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Kalki, Mohit Ahlawal, Ravi Kissen and me," she says. Her idol and inspiration is Kajol, who "proved herself as a successful actor, a successful woman and a successful mother."Fashion, Gulati readily admits, had turned monotonous. "The ramp walks became identical and I felt as if I was part of a routine. I desperately wanted a change. So I enrolled in Barry John's acting classes, trained in salsa, kathak, jazz and funk and tried my luck at films," she says. "Unlike modeling, the world of films provides a new, diverse experience everyday. You get to meet new people, work in new set-ups, explore different emotions, you can cry, laugh, be a village belle or play an action figure," she adds.
