Gogoi asks big businessmen to invest in Assam

Guwahati, May 4 (PTI) Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said the state was on the threshold of a new beginning and lauded the efforts of industry body the CII for hastening the process of industrialisation. Gogoi asked the big business houses to invest in a big way in the state taking advantage of prevailing congenial atmosphere. Inaugurating a CII conference on its annual day here, the chief minister expressed satisfaction that there was growing sense of realisation for a need to develop and progress in the state. State industry minister Pradyut Bordoloi urged the CII to play a pro active role in hastening the path of industrial development of the state. "The industry department has always actively supported the industrial bodies in bringing investments to the state", he said. CII North East council Chairman Deepankar Chatterji said that in to transform the country into a global leader by 2022, Assam would have to play a major role.
