Groundnut oil firms up on increased demand

Mumbai, May 17 (PTI) Groundnut oil firmed up at the oils and oilseeds market here today on increased offtake from the stockists and retailers amid restricted arrivals from the key producing belts. Castorseeds futures also edged higher on fresh export enquiries. Meanwhile, refined palmolein, castorseeds bold, castoroil commercial and linseed oil closed at their weekend levels in the absences of worthwhile buying activity. In the edible oil segment, groundnut oil moved up by Rs 5 to Rs 675 from last saturday''s closing level of Rs 670, while refined palmolein closed unchanged at Rs 395. Turning to futures section, castorseed June contract resumed higher at Rs 3,106 and moved in a range of Rs 3,126 and Rs 3,095 before closing at Rs 3,111 as against Rs 3,102 previously, showing a modest gain of Rs 9. Moving to non-edible oil section, castorseeds bold, castoroil commercial and linseed oil closed unaltered at Rs 3,220, Rs 674 and Rs 520 respectively.
