Gujjar woman alleges rape, police inaction

Batala (Punjab), June 16 (PTI) After police allegedly refused to lodge a complaint, a Gujjar woman has approached a local court demanding action against some youths whom she accused of having abducted and gangraped her repeatedly for several days. The 35-year-old woman was abducted by five youths of her community on June 8 and raped by them repeatedly for several days before she managed to flee from their clutches on June 14, she told reporters at a local hospital where her medical examination was conducted following the court''s order. Later, she approached Kotli Surat Malhi police station but the SHO allegedly refused to register her complaint, the woman said. After failing to get justice from the police, she approached the court and Civil Judge Sanjeev Kundi ordered that her medical examination be conducted.
