New Delhi, May 4 -- The owner of a retail store in DLF City and two of his friends, including a former municipal councilor, were allegedly detained illegally in a police station lock-up for about five hours and abused and manhandled by police officials on Monday evening. The trio was released at midnight from the DLF city police station after the matter reached senior police officials. When contacted, police commissioner SS Deswal confirmed he had removed the Inspector from his posting. The police officials had summoned the victims to resolve an issue pertaining to a store employee whose salary had been stopped. Victim Chandar Arya (34), the owner of Sokoni Super Mart in DLF Arcade on MG Road, said he had filed a complaint against an employee who, along with his relatives, had misbehaved with him at his store on Monday morning. Arya said that he and his friends were summoned to DLF City (II) police station at 7 pm."As I sought time to resolve the issue, Inspector Sukhanpal Singh went berserk and started abusing us. As we tried to reason with him, he and other policemen grabbed our collars and dragged us to the lockup."
