Mumbai, May 17 (PTI) Three persons, including a member of high-rise committee which looks into implementation of norms governing construction of towers, were today arrested on corruption charges, Anti Corruption Bureau said. Engineer Shailesh Mahimtura, member of the committee formed by the Urban Development Department allegedly demanded Rs one crore from a builder and accepted Rs 15 lakh as first instalment through his two aides Jahabeen Jumatiya and Kunal Dhuri. All the three were arrested, Additional Police Commissioner (ACB) Niket Kaushik told PTI. According to ACB officials, the builder had a proposal to construct a residential-cum-commercial building at Matunga area in central Mumbai. Officials of the high-rise committee had in April second week inspected the site and told the builder that Mahimtura would visit the site shortly. Later, Mahimtura inspected the site on April 27 and asked the builder to meet him, Kaushik said. Since the builder had a total of eight such projects, Mahimtura demanded Rs one crore for approving them, Kaushik added. "For over two weeks, the issue was discussed between the two. Finally, the victim agreed to pay a bribe of Rs one crore and complained to us," Kaushik added. .
