Jammu, Jun 17 (PTI) A hardcore militant of Hizbul Mujaheedin outfit was today killed by security forces in an encounter in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said. On a specific information about the presence of militants, Rashtriya Rifles troops launched a search operation in Marmat area in Doda district, a police spokesman said here. As the troops were advancing, they were fired upon by militants from the forest area. In the ensuing encounter, one HM militant, identified as Abdul Qayoom, was killed, he said. One AK-47 rifle along with three magzines was recovered from the slain militant, originally belonging to Mangota village of Doda district. Qayoom was a Pakistan-trained militant and was active in the state since 1993, the spokesman said.
