Kolkata, June 17 (PTI) The Power Ministry will seek Korean expertise to help reduce transmission and distribution (T&D) losses, Minister of State for Power Bharatsinh Solanki said today. "A team will come from Korea and hold discussions with our distribution companies," he said at the Merchants Chamber of Commerce here. At present, T&D losses in India stand at 29 per cent compared to 3.9 per cent in Korea, he said, adding that the target was to reduce it to 15 per cent by 2012 across the country. A reduction in T&D losses is equivalent to new capacity addition of similar quantum, he said. Solanki said during the 12th Five-Year Plan, the country plans to add 1 lakh MW of new capacity, compared to 78,700 MW during the current Plan.
