Jamia gets Rs eight crore for research in Nanosciences

New Delhi, May 17 (PTI) Government has granted Rs eight crore to Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) University to carry out research in Nanotechnology and Nano-Sciences. Under this grant, two projects will be undertaken by Departments of Physics and Applied Sciences, making JMI the only university to carry out research in "Synthesising Single Wall Carbon Nanotubes", a press release said here. Nanotechnology seeks to explore new technologies for creating nanometer devices, which can open numerous avenues in space research, forensic sciences, electronics, medicine and industry. The university also runs a post-graduate course M.Tech in Nanotechnology. Defence Research Development Organization has already given another project on Carbon Nanotubes to the university.
