Kerala beefs up coastal security

Kochi, May 16 (ANI): Kerala has ramped its coastal security with the state police inducting high-speed boats. A fleet of 47 boats along with a specially trained police team have been deployed to patrol the shoreline and backwaters. The 6.8-metre-long boats can be controlled by a remote device and seat up to six policemen. A colourful regatta ceremony in the backwaters of Kochi district marked the launch of the new service.
