KSU plea to Rahul against taking Joseph into UDF

Thiruvananthapuram, May 10 (PTI) Kerala Students Union (KSU), the students wing of Congress in the state, today sought intervention of AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi against admitting Kerala Congress (J) leader P J Joseph into United Democratic Front (UDF). A representation to this effect was submitted to Gandhi by KSU president Shafi Parambil during the Congress leader''s visit to the state. The plea assumes significance as the Congress in the state was by and large stiffly opposed to admitting Joseph into the coalition. Joseph had recently quit the LDF cabinet following the merger of Kerala Congress (J) with UDF partner Kerala Congress (Mani). In his plea, Shafi said KSU had often accused Joseph of corruption and had even spearheaded agitations against him when he handled portfolios of Education and Public Works in different LDF ministries.
