Fourth seed Manasi Chajed won the Cadet (Under-12) Girls title at the Le Meridien Players Cup table-Tennis Tournament played at the Deccan Gymkhana on Saturday, with consecutive upset victories in the semifinals and finals.Chajed pulled off a win over top seed Vaibhavi Kher in the semifinal, beating her convincingly in straight sets. She defeated her much-fancied opponent 11-7, 11-6, 11-3 to enter the finals, said a press nore issued here on Sunday.Up against another higher seed in the finals, Chajed then raised her game yet again to beat her opponent, second seeded Priyanka Tamhankar, again in straight sets.After winning the first two sets comfortably, the fourth seed prevailed in a closely fought third set to win the title.The semifinal lineup of the Boys Cadet event was as expected, with the four top seeds making it into the four available spots. Top seed Rajat Shinde entered the finals with a 14-12, 11-4, 11-7 victory over fourth seed Sanat Bokil.Shinde was made to fight for the first set, but won the next two relatively easily to seal the match.Rajat Shinde faced off against third seed Dhruv Kaluskar, who pulled off a minor upset against second seed Anand Kale, beating him 13-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-5 in the other semifinal.In the final showdown, Shinde secured a relatively easy straight-set victory over Kaluskar to lift the title.
