Maha govt not to ``fail`` students till 8th class

Mumbai, May 10 (PTI) The Maharashtra government today said all students till 8th standard would be given promotion to the next class even if they don''t perform well in examinations from the current academic session. "Even if they don''t perform well in the exams, they won''t be failed, but simply given a grade and can move ahead to next class," School Education and Sports Department principal secretary Sanjay Kumar told PTI here. A Government Resolution (GR) to the effect was issued today, Kumar said. The GR has been issued in accordance with the Right to Education Act for all children in the state, he said.
