Maoists kill tribal leader in Orissa

Bhubaneswar, Jun 16 (PTI) Suspected Maoist guerrillas shot dead a tribal leader in Orissa''s Keonjhar district, police said today. Biswanth Chatar, a former Chasi Mulia Sangha district president, was gunned down last night by suspected Maoists and a case of murder was registered at Ghasipura police station following a complaint filed by his family members, they said. Biswanth was attacked when he was returning home with a friend. While he died on the spot, his friend sustained bullet wounds, the police said. "Biswanath was killed for allegedly being a police informer," a senior district police officer said. The police recovered a few Maoist posters from near the body.
