MCA to organise 30k investor education programmes

New Delhi, May 18 (PTI) To increase awareness among market participants, the corporate affairs ministry today said it plans to organise 30,000 investor education programmes across the country this financial year. The ministry has tied up with three professional institutes, three stock exchanges, major trade and industry chambers including Ficci, CII, Assocham, PHD Chamber, Indian Merchant Chambers, AIMA, RBI, Sebi, and department of public enterprises in this initiative. "The ministry has decided to upscale the investor awareness activities by organising over 3,000 investor programmes in the current financial year," corporate affairs secretary R Bandyopadhyay said in a statement. The ministry also plans to dedicate the second week of July to investor education, calling it India Investor Week. During that week, five major events in the metros, regional events in the states and a large number of investor awareness camps will be organised all over the country, corporate affairs minister Salman Khurshid said in the statement. Besides, easy-to-read booklet in all the national languages would also be distributed free of cost during these events. The theme of this year''s week will be ''Informed Investor-An Asset to Corporate India''.
