Meerut (UP), May 9 (ANI): Mammu Singh, a hangman with the Central Jail in Meerut has expressed desire to execute Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone surviving Pakistani gunman who was sentenced to death for his role in 2008 Mumbai attacks.Singh said that he is eager to prepare the noose for Kasab, as he has committed a heinous crime, which needs execution of the capital punishment at the earliest."I am as eager to hang Kasab as eager the country is to see him hang till death. I want to say one thing that neither Kasab is my enemy nor is he my friend. My enemy is crime. And the person who commits crime becomes my enemy. Neither he would have committed a crime nor would he have been sentenced to death," Singh added."I don't hate him, but I condemn the heinous crime he has committed. He killed so many people. That is why I feel he should be hanged at the earliest," he said.Singh is the son of Kallu Singh, who hanged the assassins of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.Meanwhile, urging for Kasab's immediate hanging, Kavita Karkare, wife of slain chief of Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), said that Kasab should not get a chance to appeal in the apex court."Even I think they should start a campaign and everyone should get together to urge for his hanging at the earliest. And Kasab should not get the opportunity to appeal in the Supreme Court," said Karkare.A special court awarded a death sentence to Kasab for waging war against India, murder, conspiracy to murder, and participating in an act of terror under Unlawful Activity Prevention Act (UAPA).The death penalty will not be implemented immediately as it has to be confirmed by the High Court.Kasab has the option of appealing to higher courts, and can also file a mercy petition for the consideration of the President of India.
