On the first death anniversary of Sant Ramanand of Dera Sachkhand Ballan, who was killed in Vienna, Austria, last year, thousands of followers who came to pay homage were directed to mention their religion as Ravidasia in the Census survey.The instructions were issued not by the dera head Sant Niranjan but second-in- command Sant Surinder Das Bawa and Sant Krishan Nath of Dera Sant Phool Das Chehru."We belong to Ravidasia religion and we should clearly mention it in the Census," they said.They also flayed the Punjab government for stopping the community to place the granth of their new religion in their gurdwaras. Sant Ramanand was also given the title of "Amar Shaheed of Ravidasia".Dera head Sant Niranjan Das and second in command Sant Ramanand were attacked by Sikh activists in Vienna last year. While Sant Niranjan Das survived, Sant Ramanand died on the spot.After the incident, the move of separation was led by Dera Sachkhand Ballan to chalk out a different identity for their community.On January 31 this year, on the 633rd birth anniversary of Guru Ravidass, they announced the new religion Ravidasia, at his birth place Seer Gowardhanpur in Banaras.
