New Delhi, Jun 17 (PTI) The MCD today de-sealed a commercial complex housing shops of reputed brands at the Inderlok Metro Station premises here after a direction from Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna. On June 8, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi had sealed the mall alleging that a private developer has constructed it without authorisation from the civic body. However, at a meeting chaired by the L-G on Tuesday to clear the stand-off between the MCD and the DMRC, Khanna had instructed the civic agency to de-seal the complex which had shops of well-known brands like Comesum, Mcdonalds, Raymonds and Big Bazaar. "The mall has been de-sealed following instructions from the Lt Governor," Officer on Special Duty to the L-G, Ranjan Mukherjee, said. He said at the meeting, the L-G told the MCD that any establishment inside the premises of a Metro station does not need a prior sanction from the civic body, though it will have to be taken for such units which are operating outside the premises. In this case, the mall is coming inside the premises of the station after its extension, the official said. He also said trade tax and trade license will be mandatory for such commercial units to operate. The meeting was attended by DMRC Managing Director E Sreedharan and MCD Commissioner K S Mehra. The civic agency had said the private developer which constructed the mall after an agreement with DMRC had violated rules as no sanction has been taken from the civic body under building bye-laws. In this case, there was no dispute between MCD and DMRC as such and the "violations have been solely carried out" by the private firm which built the mall, the MCD had said. However, DMRC had said it has been permitted to undertake such activities without any restrictive condition as per the approval of the Group of Ministers and Urban Development Ministry.
